Biography

David Paul Boreanaz is a celebrated American actor, director, and producer whose career has made a lasting impact on television and popular culture. Known particularly for his tall, brooding screen presence, charismatically stoic leads, and incredible small-screen longevity, Boreanaz became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable television leading men. He first gained widespread attention during the late 1990s and went on to become one of the defining network television stars of his generation.

Boreanaz’s breakthrough came when he was cast as the tragic, tortured vampire-with-a-soul, Angel, on the hit supernatural drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003). His magnetic chemistry and fan-favorite performance led to his own hugely successful spin-off series, Angel (1999–2004). His ability to portray dark, morally complex heroes while balancing physical action and emotional nuance established him as one of the most versatile and sought-after television actors of his era.

One of the greatest achievements of Boreanaz’s career came immediately following Angel when he starred as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth in the hit forensic crime procedural Bones (2005–2017). Co-starring alongside Emily Deschanel, the series became a massive international ratings hit, running for 12 seasons and over 240 episodes. His long-running portrayal cemented his status as a permanent fixture on primetime television, while also allowing him to expand his talent behind the camera as a frequent director and executive producer.

Following the end of Bones, Boreanaz seamlessly transitioned into another major network hit, starring as Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes in the military drama SEAL Team (2017–2024). Beyond his dominant television presence, he has taken on feature film roles in project genres ranging from slasher horror in Valentine (2001) to voicing Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the animated movie Justice League: The New Frontier (2008).
